My wife and I took a short trip to
Manzanita, Oregon, and found it to be a wonderful haven from the crazy world. I think every single resident has a dog, and we met them on the beach every day.

I didn't know they had a dog festival, sounds like it will be a blast. There are lots of places to stay, we were in the Sunset Surf Motel. Many of the sights there are covered on YELP. Here is a link.
