Is there a correlation between gun ownership and gun deaths?

I like Mark Reid, a data wonk in Australia, and his analysis that he published on the correlation between gun ownership and deaths by guns.  It was a gutsy thing to do and he had a blizzard of comments to contend with, both love and hate, but he kept his cool and maintained that he was just publishing data, not drawing conclusions.  However the conclusions about whether or not "more guns = more deaths" is true looks pretty true to me.  You can judge for yourself.
