Glock Block

In Milwaukie, OR there is a neighborhood that is either safer or best avoided, depending on your point of view.  The Armed Citizen Project arms citizens, and they recently organized a "Glock Block" in a neighborhood with a rash of property crimes, to shoot criminals. 

The Clackamas County Sheriff isn't real thrilled. 

Sergeant Robert Wurpes of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office told ABC News, “What we’re really talking about here is property crime. We don’t think firearms are the answer to this problem. However, we do understand gun ownership is a right. We understand that it’s frustrating when people get things stolen or are victims of crimes. Our concerns come into play when guns are involved because they’re dangerous.”

 I'll try to keep a tally of how many bad guys (and accidental shootings) result from this.

Only in America, what were they thinking?

The Saint Helens Girls Softball League needed to raise money, so they brainstormed on ideas, and came up with the idea of  a raffle of an AR-15 assault rifle to raise money for the girls, aged 8 to 16.  The assault rifle was donated by a good samaritan.  On their website, the Amateur Softball Association of America lists the sales of magazine, cookie dough, jerky and lollipops as ways to raise money for teams.  Assault rifles are not a preferred fund raising product.

Gun Appreciation idiots part 2

We can only laugh at Political Media, and their director Larry Ward for their new pro-gun PR campaign named ""What Would Django Do?" to attract minorities to the NRA.  These same folks hosted Gun Appreciation Day resulting in several gun-inflicted injuries across the country.  This new campaign is based on the recent movie by Quentin Tarantino's latest film (Tarantino is personally not a gun nut).  Ward says "Django is perfect for what we’re trying to do, which is to promote gun rights to minorities.", although he hasn't apparently the brains to realize the movie "is most memorable for the fact that its titular character slaughters nearly every white person he sees—armed or unarmed, male or female—and with relish.".

Idiots.
